Montreal police are investigating the second homicide in less than 48 hours on Thursday after a 30-year-old man died following a stabbing in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough.
The killing marks the city’s ninth homicide of the year.
Montreal police (SPVM) said that a 911 call at around 4:15 a.m. prompted officers to the scene on Decarie Boulevard near Beaudet Street.
When they arrived, officers found the victim with injuries to his upper body caused by a sharp object.

He was conscious but in critical condition when transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
A 40-year-old man was arrested on the scene and transferred to a detention centre.
“It’s a conflict between the two men who know each other that escalated,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chevrefils.
Investigators are on the scene to determine the exact circumstances of the event.
The investigation continues.
