The window of an organization that serves vulnerable members of the community in Montreal’s Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough was shattered by gunfire late Wednesday night.
Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 11 p.m. about the incident on Sainte-Catherine Street near Joliette Street.
“When the police arrived on the scene, they found that the window of the centre was broken and at least one shell casing was on the ground,” said Manuel Couture, a spokesperson with Montreal police.
There were no reported injuries, and the organization’s management is cooperating with investigators.
The location is a day centre that was closed at the time of the shooting.
Two men, aged 24 and 33, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
They are expected to meet with investigators later in the day.
An investigation is underway, and the security perimeter has been lifted.
