Genie Bouchard to play first semi-final match in a year

Eugenie Bouchard won her quarter-final match at the Hobart International tournament in Australia.

She defeated Italian Camila Giorgi in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-2.

Giorgi is ranked the 35th best female tennis player, while Bouchard is currently ranked 47th.

Bouchard will play third seed Dominika Cibulkova, the 2014 Australian Open finalist, in the semifinal on Friday.

This is the best showing for Bouchard in a year. Last week she reached the quarterfinals of the Shenzen Open but lost to Nicole Timea Babos.
