Two seniors were struck by a car in a Montreal parking lot, and one remains in critical condition in the hospital.

One senior is dead and another is in the hospital after being hit by a car in the parking lot of a mall in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough.

Montreal police (SPVM) were called at 3:15 p.m. about a collision between a vehicle and two pedestrians at the Place Vertu shopping centre on Côte-Vertu Boulevard.

A 97-year-old woman and an 89-year-old man were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The man succumbed to his injuries. The woman’s life is now out of danger.

Police say the driver, a man in his 60s, was “performing a manoeuvre” when he hit the two.

He remained at the scene.

Officers are on-site, and an investigation is ongoing.
