TORONTO - Alberta rockers Nickelback have become the latest superstar act to sign a long-term deal with Live Nation.
The L.A.-based entertainment company says Nickelback's worldwide contract will cover three touring and album cycles, with an option for a fourth.
The deal also gives Live Nation rights to Nickelback recordings, DVDs, merchandise and endorsements, but no financial details were revealed.
The band's last tour, which visited North America and Australia in 2006-2007, sold more than 1.5 million tickets and grossed more than $67 million.
Frontman Chad Kroeger says he and his bandmates are excited about the new deal, which makes them the fourth act to sign a so-called multiple rights or "360" contract with the company.
Live Nation finalized a similar deal with Colombian star Shakira less than a week ago, and boasts similar arrangements with Madonna and Jay-Z. A less-extensive deal with U2 is expected to be signed soon.
"The Live Nation deal helps us maximize the band's opportunities in all areas of our career," Kroeger said Tuesday in a release.
"We are extremely confident that Live Nation's complete global team is the world's finest and we are excited to be a part of the Live Nation vision and future."
