As people around the world watched Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration on Friday, many eyes were also on the women at the ceremony.
Social media exploded Friday with people commenting on First Lady Melania Trump’s outfit, along with the outfits of Hillary Clinton, Ivanka Trump and Kellyanne Conway.
Much of the commentary was positive, except when it came to Conway’s outfit.
MELANIA TRUMP
While some well-known designers have refused to dress Melania Trump, American designer Ralph Lauren was not one of them. He dressed the first lady for inauguration day in a sky-blue cashmere jacket and mock turtleneck dress. Trump accessorized the dress with matching suede gloves, shoes and clutch bag.
“It was important to us to uphold and celebrate the tradition of creating iconic American style for this moment," the Lauren corporation said in a statement.

With her hair in a pretty updo, many people on social media compared the first lady’s look to the robin’s egg blue outfit former first lady Jackie Kennedy sported at the 1961 inauguration of her husband John F. Kennedy. Overall, the reaction to her outfit was good, but some questioned Trump’s choice of gloves.
My God. Melania Trump rivals the beauteous sky in that blue dress.#Inauguration

HILLARY CLINTON
Hillary Clinton attended the inauguration donning her signature outfit, a white pantsuit, also designed by Ralph Lauren. The former first lady previously wore a similar outfit when she accepted the Democratic nomination for president in July
Many people on social media applauded Clinton for wearing what many have called an outfit that symbolizes women’s suffrage.

Also, I wonder if Hillary bought that pantsuit thinking "This will look great while I'm *being* sworn in."

IVANKA TRUMP
Meanwhile, many commentators on social media pointed out that Hillary Clinton’s outfit looked eerily similar to that of first daughter Ivanka Trump. She also wore a white pantsuit (this one designed by Oscar de la Renta) but accessorized her jacket with a small American flag pin.
Her sister Tiffany Trump also chose a white double-breasted coat.

While many on Twitter commented on the similarities between the three women’s outfits, there was also lots of praise for Ivanka Trump’s fashion sense.
I'm thinking Ivanka is wearing that white outfit better than Hillary. #Inauguration #WhoWoreItBetter?

KELLYANNE CONWAY
Finally, the person who received the most criticism for her outfit was Donald Trump’s senior adviser Kellyanne Conway.
She wore a military-style wool coat by Gucci. The red, white and blue coat, complete with two cat-head buttons, was accessorized by a red cloche hat.

Conway described her outfit as “Trump revolutionary wear,” but many on social media straight-up hated the choice.
