Certain Ford, Acura and Land Rover models have been recalled in Canada over a variety of issues that pose a risk to drivers’ safety.

Ford recall

Ford Canada issued a recall for four 2024 models, warning of issues on vehicles with 3.5-litre turbo engines that can increase the risk of a crash or fire.

“The rear engine cup plug may not have been installed properly,” the company said in a recall posted by Transport Canada last week. “As a result, engine oil could leak and cause a loss of power to the wheels.”

This loss of power could increase the risk of crash, the notice warned. Additionally, the oil leak could lead to fire or create other hazards.

The recall applies to the Ford F-150, F-150 (police interceptor truck), Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.

Ford said owners will be notified by mail, and will be told to take their vehicle to a dealership for inspection and replacement if needed. This recall was initially issued in November, but updated on Dec. 23.

While the F-150 is regularly one of Canada’s most purchased vehicles, this recall is estimated to impact only about 340 trucks and SUVs.

Acura recall

Drivers of newer model Acura TLX sedans are being advised of an issue with the fuel filler neck in their vehicles.

In a recall notice posted last week, parent company Honda said the part may not have been properly welded to the fuel tank, and could cause a leak as a result. These types of leaks can lead to fires.

The recall applies TLXes from the years 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Honda says Acura will notify owners “in writing,” advising they take their vehicles to a dealership for inspection and replacement if needed.

This recall was first issued Dec. 19 and updated on Dec. 23.

Land Rover recall

Land Rover is recalling newer model Range Rovers in Canada, warning of a possible water leak that could impact rearview cameras.

The company said in a notice last week that leaks could impact the image from the camera or block it entirely.

“A rearview camera that doesn’t display correctly could reduce a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash,” the recall advisory said.

Owners will be notified by mail, Land Rover said.

As of Wednesday unclear what the fix will be. The recall notice says only that “the corrective actions for this recall are under development.”

This recall was first issued Dec. 19 and updated on Dec. 23. Land Rover estimates it affects 616 SUVs in Canada.
