Weapons, drugs and more seized in search following Aamjiwnaang First Nation shooting

A search of a residence spurred by an accidental shooting on Tuesday has resulted in additional charges for a man from Aamjiwnaang First Nation Reserve.

According to Sarnia police, just after 5:00 p.m., a call to emergency services drew police to an address on White Circle in Aamjiwnaang First Nation for a reported shooting.

Police say that a 30-year-old man was shot through both legs as the result of what has been reported to be an accidental firearm discharge.

Following the incident, police executed a search warrant at the home, and located the following:

  • a loaded Glock 9mm handgun
  • a 10 round capacity magazine, loaded with 9 rounds, seated in the gun. (prohibited)
  • additional 9mm rounds
  • a spent 9mm shell casing
  • 15.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • 23.7 grams of cocaine
  • 13 oxycodone pills (homemade pressed to look like oxycodone - likely containing fentanyl)
  • $2440 Canadian currency
  • drug trafficking paraphernalia

The homemade pills will be sent to Health Canada for testing.

A 32-year-old has been charged with several offences.
