‘Unsettled’ weather in store for Friday

A look at the weekend forecast for the London area with Meteorologist Julie Atchison.

Rain showers are moving into the region Friday with the possibility of some afternoon thunderstorms.

“The rain will be first to start. We won’t see a whole lot develop until we hit noon hour towards Elgin County, see some showers towards Huron as well,” said CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “Chance of thunderstorms as we head into the afternoon, we will see some storm action Friday.

Over the weekend, daytime highs are averaging above normal for this tome of year.

Saturday, the cold air takes hold and the temperatures drop off down to about 11 C with gusty winds.

Over the weekend, the best day to be outdoors will be Sunday.

Friday: Mainly cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers and risk of a thunderstorm. Wind becoming south 20 km/h gusting to 40 this morning. High 19.

Friday Night: Cloudy with 70 per cent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm this evening. Wind southeast 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Wind becoming northwest 20 gusting to 40 before morning. Low 6.

Saturday: Cloudy. 40 per cent chance of showers in the morning and early in the afternoon. Wind northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50. Temperature steady near 7.

Sunday: Sunny. High 18.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 21.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers. High 24.

Wednesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 13.
