If you had a little pep in your step yesterday due to warmer weather, and got eager for warmer days ahead, today is likely a disappointment.

“Winter’s come back across the region,” joked CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “Blowing snow advisories [are] in effect in through Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce County.”

That thaw on Wednesday has led to ice rinks on many area roads, and that’s expected to persist. “Icy conditions through the afternoon and into the evening. Temperatures anywhere from -3 to -6, but we’re dealing with wind chills in the area close to -10,” cautioned Atchison.

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for much of southern Ontario, with slippery roads and lake effect snow squalls combined with high winds creating dicey travel conditions.

“We will see icy conditions overnight and once again, although the flurries will come to an end, waking up to some light flurries Friday morning, the high back above freezing at +2 under a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon,” said Atchison.

Warmer temperatures are expected as we head into the weekend climbing above freezing on Sunday. This weekend is also the start of daylight saving time, so don’t forget to change your clocks.
