Masonville Place mall was evacuated and closed for a few hours Sunday after reports of Christmas ornaments falling from the ceiling.

Employees and customers were told to leave the mall around the noon hour. The mall was re-opened about 3:30 p.m.

A note was posted on the doors of the mall once it was evacuated.

“Due to an unforeseen situation we will not be able to allow public access at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

A Tweet from the mall's account, called the incident "an unexpected accident" and said the mall would re-open once it was "safely cleaned up."

Security guards told employees during the evacuation to grab their personal belongings and not wander through common areas.

The mall was scheduled to be open until 5 p.m.
