Regional Chambers of Commerce across the province are calling on the Ontario government to provide infrastructure funds for rural broadband internet access.
In a letter to Premier Kathleen Wynne the Ontario Chamber of Commerce renewed calls for more investment into broadband infrastructure for remote and rural areas.
The OCC says that high-speed broadband internet access is “essential,” and “no longer recognized as a luxury.”
Among the Ontario Chambers calling investment is the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce.
President Shirley de Silva said, “Local businesses in Sarnia-Lambton are dependent on high speed internet access for their everyday operations and it is critical for our members have access to this essential infrastructure.”
