A group of Londoners are responding to the escalation of attacks on Gaza, and they made their voices heard Sunday when they lined up along Wonderland Road.
“We are gathered here to form a human chain to show our support for the Palestinian people who are suffering right now,” explained Samah Alsabbagh, spokesperson for the London chapter of the Canadian Palestinian Social Association (CPSA).
The CPSA, along with the Western Divestment Coalition and other community members, joined together in the protest.
They are hoping to raise awareness and draw attention to what they call “brutal” attacks on Palestinians.

“A genocide is growing. It’s a massacre now. And all we can do here is to stand with humanity and stand with human rights and stand with the people who are being oppressed right now back in Palestine, and show them that they’re not alone,” said Alsabbagh.
“A few weeks ago, there were 500 people that were murdered in just 48 hours. And that’s just a small example of the massacres that are happening every day. We’re here to protest against this and encourage people to come to such events and ask questions,” said Hanna Kaupp, a protester who attended the event.
Organizers say a difference can be made in this upcoming federal election and encourage voters to keep Gaza in mind when you head to the polls.
We are asking everyone to go and vote for the candidate with the right principles, the principles that Canada stand for, which is freedom and human rights,” Alsabbagh said.
