‘I’m running out of places to put it’: Residents clean up after another snowstorm

Published:

Like many in midwestern Ontario, Mike Glousher woke up to a pile of snow in his driveway this morning.

“Never had so much snow in the past. It’s never been like this. It’s crazy,” said the Blyth homeowner.

While Wednesday night’s snowfall might have taken the cake as the biggest overnight dump of snow so far this year, it’s been a winter of relentless snow across much of Huron, Bruce, and Grey Counties.

School buses across the region were cancelled yet again due to the snow and blowing snow that just won’t seem to stop. And folks are rightfully getting a little tired of shoveling snow day after day, after day.

“Definitely. It’s cold and miserable, but it’s got to get done,” said Nick Walters from Blyth.

The problem for many is where to put it all. Morton Walker’s driveway snowbanks are as tall as he is.

“We’ve had our share. I’m running out of places to put it, unfortunately,” said Walker.

As the calendar nears the middle of February, there is the hope that March’s arrival will see an end to the constant snowfall. But until then, the forecast doesn’t have many days without more snowfall on tap.

“I could use some spring, I guess, but I’m not sure about the groundhog prediction,” said Glousher.

“Can’t do much but laugh at it. You know what I mean. If you’re doing anything else, you’d be so depressed. You’d never leave the house,” said Walker.
