A 29-year-old St. Thomas resident has been charged with assault and forcible confinement, as well as unauthorized possession of a weapon and possession of a schedule III substance following an intimate partner violence investigation.
Police say that on Tuesday afternoon, officers responded to a reported assault in the south side of the city.
The accused had reportedly confined the victim inside of an apartment during an argument, not allowing them to leave. The argument became physical, and the victim was assaulted and received some injuries.
The victim then contacted a family member, who called police.
A search of the apartment later that evening resulted in the seizure of a Taser, and 20.9 grams of psylocibin.
