(Relaxnews) - Living in polluted urban environments is becoming the norm for many of us, but what if your clothes could clean the air around you?
Such is the idea behind "BB.Suit 0.2: Wearable Clean Air", a garment which improves air quality.
The suit uses ‘cold plasma' technology to split oxygen and water molecules into free radicals, which react with toxic gases in the air to purify it.
An integrated air quality sensor in the suit monitors the levels of carbon monoxide, methane and LPG in the surrounding air and gathers geo-localized data, allowing for widespread analysis of the problem.
The brainchild of ByBorre and Martijn ten Bhomer from the Eindhoven University of Technology, Eva de Laat, Daan Spangenberg Graphics, StudioFriso and WANT, the suit is currently on display at Beijing Design Week.
"The combination of the integrated wearable technology and advanced production techniques empowers producers and consumers to contribute to a cleaner fashion industry, with less side-waste and a more conscious and emotional bond between the wearer and their clothing," the team explains.
Beijing Design Week runs through October 3.
