TORONTO -- Harsh winter weather inspired Rudsak to bring both ample warmth and a touch of cool to its newest collection.
"Cocooning is the right way of looking at it," said founder and creative leader Evik Asatoorian.
The Montreal-based brand brought its signature rebel chic to functional outerwear at World MasterCard Fashion Week on Thursday.
The fall-winter collection demonstrated how to tuck away from the chill and look stylish doing so with voluminous funnel collars and richly textured fur-trimmed hoods.
While largely sticking to basic black, there were colourful flourishes including shimmering metallic jackets and raw ponyhair leather material fashioned to resemble camouflage.
The Rudsak audience was stacked with notable names in the front row including Toronto Raptors all-star point guard Kyle Lowry, actress Elisha Cuthbert and rapper Kardinal Offishall.
Former world and Olympic ice dance champion Tessa Virtue had high praise for the new collection.
"The tailoring was impeccable, the mix of fabrics and just the wearability," she said.
Virtue was particularly fond of a jacket flaunting a high collar with a pair of buckle accents.
"The whole line was so cohesive you could really intermingle a lot of the pieces -- but that one was a standout.
