Arrest made after multiple reports of man yelling at people in Guelph

A Guelph man is facing charges after officers with the Guelph Police Service were called to multiple disturbances downtown on Friday.

Police were first called to the provincial courthouse on Wyndham Street South around 2:15 p.m. They were told a man was kicking windows and yelling at people, including courthouse staff.

Officers were able to convince him to move along, but just over an hour later, they received another call about the same man. They were told he smashed a window at a nearby restaurant, took a drink without paying and yelled at staff. The damage is estimated at more than $500.

An hour later, police received several calls from a nearby park where a man was yelling at families. Some people left the area because they were worried about their safety.

A 30-year-old man has been charged with mischief under $5,000, causing a disturbance and two counts of breaching probation.
