The first game of their second round OHL playoff series didn’t go quite the way the Kitchener Rangers were hoping.

The Rangers opened their series against the Windsor Spitfire in enemy territory on Thursday night.

Windsor set the tone in the second period, putting away three unanswered goals. They kept up the pressure in the second period, putting the Rangers into a 4 – 0 hole. The Spitfires hammered the final nail into the coffin in the third period.

Despite one goal from Tanner Lam with a little over 2 minutes remaining, Kitchener fell 5 – 1.

Windsor now has a 1 – 0 lead on the series. Game two will be in Windsor on Saturday. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Brantford Bulldogs also opened their series with the Oshawa Generals Thursday night.

Oshawa came out strong in the first period, earning a two-goal lead on the Bulldogs.

But Brantford came back on a mission in the second period with Thomas Budnick, Cole Brown and Luca Testa all finding the back of the net.

Marek Vanacker kept the momentum going in the third, netting some insurance on a power play.

Nick Lardis put a bow on the night, putting away an empty netter with just four seconds left in the game for the 5 - 2 win.

Brantford has a 1 – 0 lead on the series with game two set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Brantford Civic Centre.
