More people may be moving to the Telephone City, according to the latest statistics from U-Haul.

The vehicle rental and storage company has released their U-Haul Growth Index data for 2024. The report features one-way customer transactions throughout the year.

According to the list, Brantford was the sixth most popular city across the country for one-way travel. Last year, Brantford came in at number 10.

The most popular city was Calgary, Alta., followed by Edmonton, Alta. at number two, and Belleville, Ont. at number three.

In the report, U-Haul cautions: “While U-Haul migration trends do not correlate directly to population or economic growth, the U-Haul Growth Index is an effective gauge of how well cities and provinces are attracting and maintaining residents.”

The latest census results show Brantford grew from a population of 98,563 in 2016 to 104,688 in 2021.

According to the city’s website, the population is expected to reach 163,000 by 2041.
