Essentially a book about a film about a book, "The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary: The Next Chapter" offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the making of upcoming film adaptation "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul."
Full of exclusive images and details about the challenges of bringing such a well-loved story from the page to the screen, the new book will have the same familiar narrative tone and humor as the regular Wimpy Kid series as like the novels, it has been written and illustrated by "Wimpy Kid" creator Jeff Kinney, himself.
"This first-hand account of the movie-making process through Jeff Kinney's eyes will delight moviegoers of all ages along with the millions of readers and fans of the worldwide bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series," said Michael Jacobs, president and CEO of ABRAMS who will be publishing the book in the US.
Since moving from an online series to a printed book format in 2007; Kinney has written 11 ‘Wimpy Kid' books that have proven to be a huge hit around the world. It is estimated that 180 million Wimpy Kid books have been sold around the world over the past 10 years.
As well as fans, the series has spawned a growing movie franchise -- this spring's "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul" will be the third film based on the series when it hits US cinema screens on May 19.
The book, "The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary: The Next Chapter" will go on sale on May 9.
