TORONTO -- While some of her fellow celebrities pumped iron, popstar Katy Perry pumped milk in a humorous new video led by Jane Fonda in which Americans were encouraged to “exercise” their right to vote in the upcoming presidential election.
In the short Instagram video shared on Monday, Fonda leads a retro virtual exercise session with Perry, her fiancé Orlando Bloom, Kerry Washington, Amy Schumer, Shaquille O'Neal, Ken Jeong, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Benson all taking part.
Clad in their finest spandex, the stars danced, jumped rope, lifted weights, high-kicked, and attempted all manner of exercises – with varying degrees of success – in a tongue-in-cheek effort to promote voter registration ahead of the election.
In one scene, Bloom can be seen lifting weights while Perry secretly observes him from afar while eating a candy bar.
Perry, who gave birth at the end of August to her and Bloom’s daughter Daisy Dove, was also shown pumping breast milk later in the exercise video.
“Get pumped to vote,” she tells the camera during the scene.
At the end of the video, the “Smile” singer asks fellow mother Schumer: “Amy, does your kid have teeth?” in an exasperated tone while the text “exercisethatvote.org” appears on the screen to encourage viewers to visit the website and register to vote.
The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 3.
