CTV Edmonton: Several homeless after pipe breaks A number of residents of a downtown housing centre are in need of a place to stay after a burst water pipe.

A few residents of a community housing building in downtown Edmonton are being helped by the Red Cross, after a burst water pipe caused flooding in the building.

Emergency crews arrived at the Capitol Region Community Housing Apartment Building just after 5 a.m., Tuesday – to find a burst water pipe inside.

Crews managed to shut off the water to the building, but the main floor was already flooded.

Meanwhile, residents of the building, who all require special care, were told to stay in their suites until it was safe to evacuate.

A total of five residents were being helped by the Red Cross, because their suites were too damaged.
