CTV Edmonton: Man sentenced in series of thefts A man who attacked several ATM customers with a steel bar last winter has been sentenced.

The man convicted in a number of violent thefts at Edmonton ATMs in December 2012 learned his fate Monday, and one of his victims was in the courtroom to hear his sentence handed down.

Jason James Gamble, 32, faced nearly a dozen charges in connection to three thefts that took place between December 10 and 15, 2012 – in all of the cases, his victims were struck in the back of the head with a steel bar as they tried to withdraw cash from their bank accounts.

One of the victims attacked by Gamble, Glenn Sams, was in the courtroom Monday to hear his attacker’s sentence – but when Gamble stood and talked about the changes he had made since his arrest, his victim got the last word.

“I just said, if he would have told me some story about his wife left him, or his kids weren’t going to have a Christmas, I would have given him the money,” Sams said. “Instead he almost killed me for a hundred dollars.”

Sams told CTV News the holidays were ruined last year, as he dealt with broken bones and stitches to his head.

In court, Gamble was sentenced to six years behind bars, with 18 months credit for time already served.
