TORONTO - Police say a teenage boy has died and at least one person has been injured after being rescued from the water at Toronto's Woodbine Beach.

Toronto police say emergency crews were called to the area at about 2:30 p.m. Friday after a woman and her young son were seen distressed in the water.

Spokesman Const. David Hopkinson says the teen and a woman jumped into the water to help them before crews arrived.

He says crews were able to rescue woman and her son, but the teen disappeared in the water.

Hopkinson says the other woman was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the teen was located in the water without vital signs.

He says the teen later died in hospital.
