Teen arrests not linked to email threat that shuttered dozens of Quebec schools

CTV Montreal: Teens charged in school threats Police say the four teens questioned by police in earlier school threats are connected to the threats made against schools this week.

Four Quebec teens are facing charges related to threats against schools, but authorities say they are not connected to the mass bomb scare that affected dozens of institutions in Quebec and Ontario earlier this week.

The teens, who are 16 and 17 years old, were arrested Wednesday for incidents that took place last Thursday and Friday, investigators said.

Authorities say there appear to be no links between the teens and a series of threats emailed to school boards in Quebec on Tuesday. The incident prompted searches and evacuations at 80 primary and secondary schools, as well as some junior colleges.

The email was authored by a so-called coalition identified by officials as "Red Sceptre" -- a group unknown to authorities.

Quebec's acting public security minister Pierre Moreau said police are continuing their investigation into identifying who sent the email.

On Tuesday, Moreau said the email complained of the quality of education and the attitude of teachers and their union.
