COBOURG, Ont. - Police in a community about 115 kilometres east of Toronto say a man was removed from a Via Rail train and charged after allegedly making threats.
Police in Cobourg, Ont., says they were advised by Via officials, as well as witnesses aboard the westbound train, that a man was overheard late Tuesday morning speaking on his cellphone and making threats.
Investigators say that no threats were made against people aboard the train, or the train equipment itself.
Police say a 57-year-old man from Chatham-Kent, Ont., was removed from the train and charged with making threats to kill.
They say all passengers and their luggage were removed from the rail car and it was searched before the train was allowed to continue on to Toronto.
