In case you missed it:

Good morning.

We had two exclusives off the top of last night’s national newscast. Richard Madan filed on a letter from Veterans Affairs to a grieving military spouse. Just days after Tom MacEachern buried his wife -- a soldier suffering from PTSD who committed suicide -- Ottawa demanded an immediate refund of her unused benefits. We’ve had quite a bit of reaction online to this story, and here’s the letter

Also in last night’s show, the ethics of a Conservative cabinet minister are being questioned after Environment Minister Leona Aglukkak was the guest of honour at a fundraiser in Ottawa -- surrounded by groups that rely on federal funds. Ottawa bureau chief Robert Fife reported on the details and the rules around conflict of interest.

On the radar:

Hundreds of Ukrainian-Canadians are expected to gather on Parliament Hill in Ottawa today at noon ET for a rally and a march to the Ukrainian embassy. They’re protesting the Ukrainian government’s crackdown on protesters in Kyiv, and are demanding that Canada invoke sanctions against key Ukrainian officials.

A Royal Caribbean cruise ship is due back in port today after more than 600 people on board got sick with what’s suspected to be norovirus.

While you were asleep:

It was just a few inches of snow that fell, but it was more than enough to paralyze cities like Atlanta in the Deep South. Thousands of workers were stranded, and there hundreds of accidents on highways. Hundreds of flights had to be cancelled as well, including at the world’s busiest airport in Atlanta (Hartsfield-Jackson). And today’s not looking any better.
