Fundraiser for 3 Lethbridge children struck in crosswalk passes $100K as they recover from injuries

A GoFundMe campaign in support of three children hit by a vehicle while crossing a Lethbridge street last week has now raised over $100,000 to help the Bucud family.

According to updates from the family, 14-year-old Marcus continues to recover. He’s had surgery and is able to sit and stand with the help of nurses.

Seven-year-old Julia’s surgery was also successful. She continues to heal at the Children’s Hospital in Calgary. Her recovery is expected to take six months to a year.

Five-year-old Zoey, who suffered minor injuries, has been released from hospital and is recovering with family and friends.

The children were hit by a vehicle Jan. 20 at the intersection of 13th Avenue and 23 Street North on their way to their school bus.

They were all taken to hospital in Calgary.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene. Police say an update on their investigation will be coming shortly.

The Bucud family said they are incredibly grateful for all the support, both financially and emotionally.
