What’s open and closed in Calgary on Family Day 2025

This year, Family Day falls on Monday, Feb. 17.

The City of Calgary will be adjusting hours of operation and services offered at some of its venues and facilities.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed:

Calgary Transit

Calgary Transit buses and CTrains will be operating on a Sunday level of service on Family Day.

More information on fares, schedules and customer service hours can be found on the Calgary Transit website.

Calgary Parking

No payment will be required for on-street ParkPlus zones on Family Day, and weekend rates will be in effect at all Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots.

Regular rates will be in effect at the Calgary Zoo, Calgary Stampede, Telus Spark and Heritage Park.

The City of Calgary’s impound lot will be closed on Family Day.

Pools and fitness centres

All indoor pools and fitness centres will be closed on Family Day, except for:

Village Square Leisure Centre, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free public skating from 1 to 2:15 p.m. and free public swimming from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Southland Leisure Centre, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. will have free public skating from 1 to 2:15 p.m. and free public swimming from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Acadia Aquatic & Fitness Centre, Bob Bahan Aquatic & Fitness Centre and Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre will have free public swimming from 1 – 2:30 p.m. and 3 - 4:30 p.m.

Arenas

All arenas will be closed, except for the following locations, which will offer free public skating from 1 to 2:15 p.m.:

- Ernie Starr Arena;

- Frank McCool Arena;

- Murray Copot Arena;

- Optimist/Blunden Arenas; and,

- Shouldice.

Soccer Centre

The Calgary Soccer Centre will be closed on Family Day.

City of Calgary art centres

The Wildflower Arts Centre and North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre will both be closed on Family Day.

Landfills

All three Calgary landfills will be open on Family Day.

The East Calgary location will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., while both the Spy Hill and Sheppard location will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
