Two Lethbridge organizations are getting ready for their Coldest Night of the Year walks on Saturday.
Streets Alive Mission and Wood’s Homes will host separate walks.
Streets Alive plans to hit the sidewalks of downtown Lethbridge, while Wood’s Homes will take a stroll around Henderson Lake.
The annual walk helps raise funds for those experiencing homelessness in the city, while Wood’s Homes will collect donations for its wrap-around services for youth.
“They’ll be used to support young people who access the continuum of services that we offer in Lethbridge,” said Shauna Cohen, regional associate director for Wood’s Homes.
“For those who may not know what we offer, we do offer emergency shelter--so the Lethbridge emergency youth shelter--it’s been operating since 2003 and then we also have kind of a newer space, which is called our Lethbridge Opportunity Hub and that’s where young people can seek support for employment, navigation of systems.”
Donations for both walks are being collected online.
Registration for both events is still open.
