Calgary police, and the family of Stacie Dawn Goran, are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the 42-year-old mother who has been missing since June 24, 2013.
Goran was last seen near the intersection of McKnight Blvd. and Edmonton Tr. N.E., the site of the temporary Drop-In Centre following the evacuation of the downtown building.
Goran is described as:
- Caucasian female
- Approximately 163 cm (5’4”) tall
- Very slim build
- Blond hair
- Brown eyes
At the time of her disappearance Goran was wearing:
- Pierced earrings
- Green and white pullover
- Orange/Pink T-shirt
- Blue jeans
- Green and white shoes
- Blue baseball cap
The family of Goran has released the following statement.
“Stacie was an outgoing person who would give the shirt off her back to help anyone.
She was a wonderful mother who cared very much for her four children. She went to all their school functions and made Halloween costumes by hand as well as birthday cakes from scratch.
Growing up Stacie was involved in sports of all kinds as well as dancing (Ukrainian dancing) and also was an honour roll student.
Her love of people led her to the career of waitressing, which she did extremely well. This unfortunately led her to an alcohol addiction. From there, the side effects of alcohol caused other problems with anxiety, migraines and depression, for which she sought medical help, thus also developing an addiction to prescription medications.
She has been relying on shelters and food banks for the last few months to provide her everyday needs. She was in contact with her children and with her mother on June 23rd and was to contact them the following day and did not. We have not heard from her since, nor have her children.
A friend had called her mother and said he could not find her as they were separated during the flood and was going to call the police in a couple of days if he did not hear from her.
Her family and friends are extremely concerned of her whereabouts and safety and want her found.”
Anyone with information on Goran's current whereabouts is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
