A dominant ridge of high pressure situated over the west continues to bring warm and stable conditions to the region.
The daytime highs in Calgary on Friday is forecast to reach 19 C and, similar to Thursday, winds will increase throughout the afternoon.
On Thursday the high in Calgary was 15 C with south-southeast winds peaking at 44 km/h.
That ridge will hold until Saturday bringing daytime highs in southern Alberta into the low 20s. But this pattern is expected to breakdown later in the day.
As it does, instability will prevail, introducing cooler air, strong winds, and precipitation across central and southern Alberta overnight.

By Sunday daytime highs across the region are expected to be at least 10 degrees colder than Saturday, with temperatures and elevation the determining factors in both the type, and amount of precipitation.
At this point the bulk of precipitation is likely to sit north and west of Calgary.
In Calgary light rain is expected Sunday with accumulations of around 1 to 2 millimetres.
This change will be short-lived with a persistent pattern moving in on Monday, pushing temperatures back up into the low 20s.
