As the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise undergoes major renovations, we now know what the hotel’s new thermal spa will look like.

Officials with the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise unveiled artist’s renderings of the new “thermal bathing experience” on Tuesday.

The new facility – called Basin Glacial Waters – will be an indoor-outdoor spot that sits lakeside and offers views of the mountains.

“Honouring its Lake Louise locale - a natural basin – and its direct glacial water source, Basin Glacial Waters represents the convergence of natural elements and contemporary wellness, interpreted through a luxury lens,” said a Tuesday news release.

“Basin Glacial Waters' foundation rests upon the traditions of thermotherapy, the ancient healing practice of flowing through diverse water temperatures to stimulate and restore both body and mind, yet complemented by a contemporary approach.”

The site is designed by Italian architect Matteo Thun.

It includes traditional Finnish and Bio Saunas – both of which offer dry heat – and a Aufguss Sauna, which officials say has roots in “European sweat culture.”

There will also be two traditional steam rooms, an infinity pool that sprawls from the interior onto the outdoor deck, and a circular reflexology pool.

After experiencing the thermal baths, you can relax in the Silent Salt Relax room.

“The introduction of Basin Glacial Waters is the reimagining of alpine wellness in Lake Louise. As a world-class facility, it elevates the resort experience entirely, becoming a destination in its own right,” said Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise general manager Tracy Lowe.

“We could not be more excited to unveil Basin to the world.”

Officials say Basin Glacial Waters is currently in the “final stages of completion” ahead of its summer 2025 opening.

When the site first opens, it will be exclusively accessible to overnight hotel guests, before opening to non-guests at a later stage.
