Man awaits sentence in Mariani beating death

Published:

Robert Reitmeier was found guilty of second-degree murder in the beating death of Mark Mariani in 2010.

A self-proclaimed white supremacist convicted in the beating death of Mark Mariani three years ago will have to wait until December to learn how long he will spend behind bars.

Robert Reitmeier, 26, was charged with second-degree murder along with Tyler Sturrup after Mariani was found dead in the parking lot of a video store along 16th Avenue N.W. on October 3, 2010.

Sturrup pleaded guilty to the crime in March and will spend at least ten years in jail before he is eligible for parole.

A jury convicted Reitmeier of the murder last Wednesday night after two days of deliberations.

Mariani's family was in court on Tuesday and read victim impact statements.

Reitmeier was offered a chance to address the court and said nothing.

The judge in the case will sentence Reitmeier in December.

The Crown is asking for 15 years and the defence is asking for ten years with no parole.
