A genuine made-in-Calgary classic film is being screened Sunday afternoon as part of Chinook Blast.
Waydowntown, by Calgary filmmaker Gary Burns, is turning 25 and being screened at the Globe Theatre at 3 p.m.
The film tells the story of a group of young employees who bet a month’s salary on who can last the longest without going outside.
It was named Best Canadian Film at the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival and was the opening night gala of the very first Calgary International Film Festival that same year.
Burns, who also made films such as Kitchen Party and Radiant City (co-directed with Jim Burns) will be on hand to do a Q&A following the screening.
