Police are warning of “extremely bad” road conditions on highways in southern Alberta, specifically around Olds, Bowden and between Airdrie and Red Deer.

Black ice conditions have been observed along with severe wind.

RCMP is asking drivers to be cautious and travel at appropriate speeds.

“These road conditions will impact the ability to stop in short distances,” RCMP said in a Thursday news release.

“Please avoid travel if possible.”
