Two men are facing assault and robbery charges in connection to an armed robbery and shooting at a northeast liquor store at the end of June.
Police were called to the Global Liquor store on Temple Drive N.E. at about 11:50 p.m. on June 24 after two men walked in and one man tried to steal a bottle of liquor by stuffing it down his pants.
Police say the employees in the store saw what was happening and locked the front door before the offenders could flee.
An altercation broke out and one of the suspects threw at bottle at the clerk. Another clerk responded by hitting the offender with a bat.
One of the suspects then pulled out a gun and fired a shot at one of the clerks, hitting him in the arm.
Police say he then fired several more shots at the door of the store to get out.
On Monday, police found the two suspects in the 400 block of 18 Avenue S.W. and took them into custody without incident.
Latef Reakwon Tag El Din, 20, and Shakailo Kenneth Sparks, 22, of no fixed address in Calgary, are both charged with aggravated assault and robbery.
Tag El Din also faces weapons charges in connection with the shooting.
The clerk was transported to hospital, treated for a gunshot wound and released.
