A man found dead inside a home in the northwest Calgary community of Carrington earlier this week—apparently after breaking in—has been identified.
Police said they responded to a report of a break-in at a residence in the 200 block of Carrington Crescent N.W. around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
It’s believed the man they found dead forced his way in, but police said they don’t know why.
An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday, but police said the man remained unidentified and how he died remained undetermined.
As a result, police turned to the public, releasing an image of the man before his death, taken from CCTV footage.

Later Wednesday, police said they had learned the man’s identity and thanked the public for its assistance.
How he died still has yet to be determined.
Police said they are not releasing the man’s name or any further information at this time.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
