Calgary man charged with second-degree murder in Ogden domestic homicide

Police say a woman found dead in her Ogden home on Friday night was a victim of domestic homicide.

A Calgary man has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to a domestic homicide in the southeast community of Ogden last weekend.

Polce were called to a residence in the 7600 block of 23 Street S.E. on Friday, April 4, around 9 p.m. for a reported disturbance.

Officers arrived and found a woman dead.

Investigators searched the residence on Monday, resulting in the arrest of a man.

Following an autopsy completed on Tuesday, the woman was identified as 31-year-old Maria Hirmiz.

As a result, Bearj Gerald Melanson, 41, was charged with second-degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
