A Winnipeg man says he couldn't understand why his doorbell didn’t ring when a FedEx package was recently delivered to his home, or why the box was all wet.
But the mystery behind the wet and damaged FedEx package didn't remain a mystery for long, after Bruce MacCutcheon took a look at the footage captured from a security camera set-up outside his front door.
The footage shows a FedEx driver running towards the home with the package in-hand. But instead of opening the front gate to approach the home, the driver tosses the package across the lawn, where it lands steps away from the front porch.
At that point, the driver opens the gate and runs towards the package, only to toss it once again.
On the second throw, the package lands at MacCutcheon's front door.
"I thought, 'Jeeze, he did it once and then did it again’," MacCutcheon told CTV Winnipeg on Thursday. "(He) didn't place it nicely, he didn't ring the door bell, nothing."
A FedEx Canada spokesperson said what she saw in the video is unacceptable.
"The behaviour depicted in the video is unacceptable and inconsistent with the professionalism FedEx Ground demonstrates every day in safety and securely delivering millions of packages to our customers," Brie Carere said in a statement.
Carere said the company offers its "sincerest apologies" to MacCutcheon and it's taking "the appropriate action to address the situation."
