‘Exercise the utmost caution’: Zara warns customers after possible data breach

Zara emailed its customers alerting them of a possible breach of information on Friday, in which their browsing activity, purchase history, internal or device identifiers, customer service queries, as well as some contact details may have been accessed.

According to the email, the company identified unauthorized access to data hosted by a third-party service provider that contains some customer information on April 14.

“In all cases, this does not present any relevant risk to customer privacy,” the email said.

“We would like to remind you to exercise the utmost caution regarding suspicious communications and any unusual or urgent requests to make payments or provide additional personal information,” it said.

“You should also avoid clicking links or opening attachments that do not come from a completely trustworthy source.”

Passwords, bank card details, and any other payment method or sensitive data was not affected by this breach, the company wrote in the email.

Zara confirmed to CTVNews.ca via live chat that “no personal information was compromised” during this potential breach of information.

“The email you received was merely a warning. Your account remains secure,” a customer service agent wrote in the live chat on its website.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the recent security alert. Please rest assured that all of your information remains fully secured, and no personal data has been compromised.”

The clothing brand said it has reported this incident to the authorities, and that should customers have any enquiries, they should contact its customer service channels.
