While Family Day doesn’t change the curbside collection schedule, Mother Nature does. All this snow has impacted curbside collection in Barrie for Monday.
The City says the significant snowfall has forced trucks to be pulled from the roads, pushing curbside collection by one day this week.
“Residents in the Monday area are asked to please bring your material in and place it out again for 7 a.m. Tuesday,” the City noted. “Please be mindful of winter considerations for curbside collection when placing materials curbside. Multi-residential property owners/managers are asked to please ensure collection trucks can access front-end bins/receptacles.”
Winter Considerations
This season has posed challenges for curbside collection, with six-foot snowbanks and inclement weather, so the City reminds residents to do their part and place bins in a visible place at the end of the driveway on the right side (when facing the street) and ensure materials are not in a snowplow’s path.
“Should it snow or if snow removal equipment covers collection materials after they have been placed out for collection, it is the responsibility of the resident to remove the snow from their materials so they are accessible and visible to the collector,” the City reminds residents.
All bins must be accessible to the collector.
“Clear an area of snow from the boulevard or grass area at the end of your driveway and place materials there, as far from the road as possible without blocking the sidewalk,” the City advised. “Stacking recycling boxes also helps if possible so they are visible and take up a smaller footprint.”
