A traffic stop for seatbelt violations in Collingwood on Good Friday led to the arrest of multiple passengers in the vehicle, one for having an existing warrant and the other for providing false identification.
According to Collingwood OPP, a detachment officer stopped a vehicle just after 8 a.m. near Hickory Street and Third Street after observing its occupants not wearing their seatbelts.
Police say the officer also observed open alcohol in the vehicle.
A 29-year-old Mulmur woman was charged with having an open container of liquor in an unauthorized place and failing to properly wear a seatbelt.
Collingwood OPP adds that further investigation led to a male passenger being identified for having an existing warrant with Toronto Police Service. The 41-year-old North York man was arrested and transferred into Toronto police custody where he was held for bail.
Additionally, police say the male passenger in the front provided false identification and was arrested after it was found that he was in breach of a release order.
A 34-year-old Stayner man was taken to the Collingwood OPP detachment and was held pending a bail hearing.
He was charged with failing to comply with a release order (other than to attend court), obstructing a peace officer, failing to wear a seatbelt, and failing to identify himself.
