There’s a big birthday party happening Penetanguishene this weekend but the family and friends of the birthday girl got thing started on Friday with a celebration.

Stella Juneau is anything but your typical 100 year-old. The Penetanguishene woman loves to laugh, smile and tell jokes.

“I love music, I love dancing, I love anything that is funny,” says Juneau.

Born in 1915, Juneau had nine children, now has 23 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She was married to her husband Joseph for more than 50 years. She loved to snowshoe and she didn’t learn to drive until she was 50 and rode a motorcycle at age 92.

Stella’s brothers and sisters were at the party. At age 78, Maurice is the kid brother.

“I have always been proud of her. She is a strong woman, a good person, a strong personality.”

Juneau says there are no real secrets to longevity. She says just eat well, especially your vegetables. And always try new things. On Friday she took her first ever selfie.

But her one wish for her birthday was to dance once again and she did with her son Raymond.

Longevity runs in the family – Stella’s dad lived to 100. As for Stella, she says she is just thrilled to have all of her loved ones with her on Friday and just wants to keep dancing.
