Barrie police are searching for a man, following the theft of a poppy donation box at a variety store.
Investigators say video surveillance captured a man removing the donation box, as well as a Canadian Cancer Society donation box at around 10 p.m. at Anne’s Variety on Dunlop Street on Tuesday.
Police say the man gave the clerk a lottery ticket as a distraction and concealed the boxes in a rolling suitcase. The man then fled the scene.
The suspect is described as being white, with a medium build, short brown hair and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a dark grey sweater, dark coloured pants, and a black backpack.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
