A 49-year-old man is facing a number of charges after allegedly stealing items from a Barrie Walmart store on Thursday night.
Officers were called to the store on Bayfield Street around 6:15 p.m. after loss prevention officers stopped the man for shoplifting. Loss prevention officers indicated they identified the man as being responsible for two previous thefts earlier in the day.
Police say the first attempt was caught on video surveillance and showed him hiding several fishing lures and lines in reusable bags. But he was spooked by staff and hid the items in a nearby isle.
The man then returned to the store wearing a different jacket and a toque. He went to the electronics department, took goods out of their boxes and hid them in a nearby isle before leaving the store, police say.
Police say he returned a third time to get the items and that is when he was arrested by the loss prevention officers.
The Barrie man was arrested with theft under $5,000 and three counts of breaching probation.
