Officials say the weight of snow on a barn in Oro-Medonte caused it to collapse, trapping two horses inside.

Two horses were left trapped inside a barn that partially collapsed on a property in Oro-Medonte Friday.

Officials tell CTV News it’s believed the weight of the snow following the week’s winter storms caused a portion of the barn on Line 11 north to crumble.

Orillia Fire Chief Ralph Dominelli says the two horses were inside the barn at the time, and both were recovered uninjured.

The property owner says he had just fed the horses moments before it caved in.
