Two dead in head-on country road crash

Two seniors were killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Elmvale over the weekend.

Three vehicles were reportedly involved in a fatal crash near Elmvale on Saturday that resulted in the deaths of two elderly people.

According to Huronia West OPP, officers, local firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the scene on County Road 27 at around noon. Police say the incident was a three-vehicle, head-on collision between Flos Road 11 East and Baseline Road.

Police confirm that an 80-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman, both from Midland, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were reportedly transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and one was transported to a trauma centre in Toronto.

County Road 27 was closed for most of the day on Saturday as investigators worked on the scene. The area has since reopened.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or anyone with footage that may assist the investigation.
