Police officers executed an early morning search warrant at an address in Barrie Tuesday after receiving a report concerning a young girl being lured by an older man through social media.
According to the local service, the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children alerted police about a 16-year-old girl being lured and exploited by a 43-year-old man via Instagram.
“Emergency Orders with the internet service providers confirmed the identity and age of the victim, as well as the identity, age, and location of the accused,” Barrie police noted.
Officers quickly took the accused into custody and charged him with several criminal offences. They also seized multiple computer devices for forensic analysis.
Police say no further details will be released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
